About MeI developed an interest in photography about 16 years ago when semi-professional cameras were still quite expensive so you had to have a good reason to go out and buy one. However, a friend of mine spent a great deal of time impressing upon me how his camera was able to manage a wide range of different situations. My first camera was a Nikon F301, a modest but nevertheless, very capable SLR. Starting out in a trial-and-error vein I was taking a lot of photos and making just as many mistakes but in time and with a little bit of patience I realised that I had been getting better and better. Moving on with a self taught attitude, I started to amass more equipment and grew more confident in my ability. That was when I decided to upgrade and buy myself a more advanced camera which had more features and was a new model in the Nikon range. Soon afterwards, I made the transition from film to transparency. This, I knew, was going to be a true test of my ability because transparency is a great deal less forgiving. In 2001 I joined the Royal Photographic Society with a view to following one of their assessments which, if successful, would give me a accreditation that proved my work had been independently assessed to a set of very strict guidelines. In October 2002, I was duly granted a Licentiateship with a collection of 10 carefully chosen slides from Australia covering flora, fauna, natural and surbuban landscapes. To date, I have begun supplying some art galleries with a few of my images and have photographed children and adults on behalf of a number of clients. I have also won an Amateur Photographer competition and have taken part in one of their photographic assignments, shooting various landmarks in London.
